What Plagues Us Most And Why?
Over the many years of running the Dissolving Patterns program, something truly remarkable began to become clear; this broad social, as well as species-related, pattern that was plaguing almost everyone:
Self-doubt.
Whether in the form of loathing, imposter syndrome, confusion, sadness, anger, hesitation, mental overload, feelings of not being enough or any other form it can take, self-doubt showed up in some outfit or another, in almost everyone. But it’s not truly self-doubt - it’s human doubt and I know this because every day I’m speaking with people sharing the same uncertainties with different details. Thousands of people over more than a decade.
Caused by one crucial piece of missing knowledge:
Not really knowing what it means to be human.
Day after day of hearing people grieving, beating themselves up, giving themselves a hard time, believing they are failures for this reason or that and finding myself saying over and over again - this is what it is to be HUMAN.
And so, a brand new podcast was born.
HOW HUMAN is a conversation space, to seek out and celebrate differences, in order to find our similarities, the things that fundamentally - across cultures, races, ideologies, genders - make us HUMAN.
It is a get out of jail free card, it is permission for you to love YOU, to understand that so many of the things you aggrieve to being your own flaws are simply characteristics of your species, it is your decompression moment when you make a ‘mistake’ to instead of self-flagellating say, ‘oh HOW HUMAN of me’ and then, from understanding that, being able to evolve.
Every second Thursday you’ll catch a brand new conversation with another intriguing person navigating this wild terrain in their own way - as we dive deep into discovering what qualities make us distinctly human and learn to cut ourselves some slack.
